The difference between several kinds of Prelin coating materials

Issuing time:2022-02-28 12:10

Parylene is a kind of vapor deposition polymer material introduced by Union Carbide Co., USA in the 1960s, prepared by a unique process of true air deposition, can be coated on various shapes of the surface, known as "all-permeable", is known in the industry as a good moistureproof, mildew, corrosion, salt spray resistant special protective coating. Parylene is of N, C, D, F and HT types. What are the differences?

The molecular structure

Parylene material

Parylene N, polyparaxylene. Parylene C is obtained by replacing one of the hydrogen atoms of dimethyl groups with a chlorine atom; Parylene D is obtained by replacing two of the hydrogen atoms of the aromatic hydrocarbons with chlorine atoms; Parylene F is obtained by replacing the four hydrogen atoms of the benzene ring with fluorine; Replacing the H atom of dimethyl with an F atom yields HT - type Parylene.

Performance and use

Parylene N is a good dielectric material, with very low dielectric loss, high insulation strength and a dielectric constant that does not vary with frequency. It is the most penetrating of all Parylene, with good self-lubrication and a coefficient of friction of 0.25. Compliance with ISO-10993 biological test requirements, compliance with UDP class 6 plastic biological test requirements.

Parylene C is the second member of the series to have commercial value. It combines excellent electrical and physical properties with low permeability to moisture and other corrosive gases. Can provide a true pinhole-free coating isolation, meet the US military standard MIL-46058C, is the coating material for important circuit boards. Compliance with ISO-10993 biological test requirements, compliance with UDP class 6 plastic biological test requirements.

Parylene D, which is similar to Parylene C, but has a higher heat tolerance. It still has excellent dielectric properties and physical and mechanical properties at high temperature.

Parylene F, a film with high dielectric strength, low dielectric constant, good thermal stability and uv resistance. The film itself is continuous, compact and pinhole-free, which can be used as a protective film for various electronic devices with complex shapes.

Parylene HT, which has a lower dielectric constant, better stability and resistance to water, mould and salt spray. Short term temperature resistance up to 450°C, long term temperature resistance up to 350°C, and strong uv resistance. It is more suitable as the protective material of high frequency microwave devices. Compliance with ISO-10993 biological test requirements, compliance with UDP class 6 plastic biological test requirements.

Parylene coating, in addition to the above excellent protection, also has good biological compatibility, biological stability, excellent self-lubrication, coating uniformity controllability, and good physical and mechanical properties. Over the years, it has been widely used in aerospace, microelectronics, semiconductors, sensors, magnetic materials, medical equipment, cultural relic protection and other fields, and has slowly penetrated into People's Daily life.
